Workshop summary

This workshop delves into the heart of 'you' by helping you rediscover and extend your character strengths in both professional and personal realms. If you've attended before, get ready for an enriched experience that builds upon last year's insights. Don't forget to complete the VIA character strengths survey before we meet (link provided below) to receive your complimentary individual strengths report. Throughout our time together, we'll dive deeper into leveraging your signature strengths to enhance job performance, foster better work relationships, and boost overall well-being.

The workshop will revisit the fundamental concept and latest research on character strengths, focusing on how they can elevate various facets of life, especially in the workplace.

  • Rediscover your unique character strengths and gain deeper insights into your strengths profile.
  • Explore fresh opportunities to apply your strengths, elevating performance, engagement, relationships, and overall satisfaction at work.
  • Expand your understanding of leveraging both your and your colleagues' strengths to enhance effectiveness and unity, fostering a culture of strengths within your team.
  • Extend last year's action plan by incorporating strategies on how to use your strengths to make progress on goals that matter to you.

Workshop preparation

  1. Take the VIA Survey: Complete the free VIA survey to receive your personal strengths profile before the workshop. If you’ve recently taken the survey, no need to redo it - just bring your results to the workshop.​​​​​ 
  2. Survey Steps:
    • Visit the VIA Institute on Character website.
    • Click “Take the free survey” in the top right corner.
    • Register when prompted (If you have questions regarding privacy please see the Privacy Policy).
    • The survey takes about 10 minutes. Answer honestly based on how well statements describe you.
    • There will be optional questions towards the end that you can complete or skip.
  3. Strengths Profile: Once completed, you’ll receive a rank-ordered strengths profile. Download the PDF version. Please note: There is no need to purchase a paid report for the workshop.
  4. Bring Your Profile: Bring a printed or digital copy of your Strengths Profile to the workshop. We’ll use it as a foundation for discussions and activities, exploring how you can apply these strengths in your work and life.

Rebecka (Bec) has served as a HR specialist for over a decade across tertiary, government and private sectors. She is currently Senior Principal Consultant, Organisational Culture with the Organisational Culture and Capability Team in Human Resources. She is committed to creating more positive workplace cultures and to helping people feel more connected, purposeful and fulfilled in their work lives. Rebecka’s particular interests lie in wellbeing, having found this passion while studying a Masters in Positive Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania and she seeks to create workplaces that help people thrive.
