WHY UQPN?

I joined the UQPN two years ago to meet and network with staff across all parts of UQ. My role in Internal Audit has taught me that UQ is an incredibly complex and diverse organisation, and that roles and responsibilities differ markedly from Faculty to Faculty, School to School, Unit to Unit and from Team to Team. There is so much to be learnt from others across this incredible University.

I believe that being part of UQPN can enable so many things – the sharing of knowledge, experiences, ideas, tips and tricks, learning and development, the establishment of new networks and friendships and exposure to new opportunities, insights and ways of thinking.

EXPERIENCE

I am a Qualified Accountant and an experienced Internal Auditor with expertise in the audit of finance, operations and information technology / systems. I am also the proud and loving Mum of a 13-year-old boy and a 3-year-old Beaglier (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Beagle).

I have worked in Brisbane and London in Finance and Internal Audit, and have now been with UQ for 9 years, predominantly in the Internal Audit team. During this time, I have been involved in reviews of Finance, HR, ITS, P&F, SPO, Research, Academic, Students, International, Schools and Faculties, Programs and Projects etc. I have also facilitated the implementation of automated Continuous Controls Monitoring across UQ.

As a result of this broad scope of work, I have been fortunate to connect with staff from many parts of the University. I have a good understanding of the business of ‘UQ’ and appreciate the significant contribution that professional staff make at all levels. I am also very aware that we professional staff often work in silos and don’t always have opportunities to connect and engage with our peers.

My personal goals for UQPN are two-fold:

  1. To help solidify the UQPN vision and objectives; and
  2. To assist UQPN in supporting and nurturing UQ Professional Staff through meaningful and targeted professional development and networking activities.
