WHY UQPN?

As an exciting move from my extensive background in retail management and entrepreneurialism, the trajectory of my career path has found me exploring new workplaces in a higher education environment. My hiring manager introduced me to UQPN as an opportunity for me to network with like-minded individuals and aide in my career development. This is my fourth year as a UQPN member and my first on the committee.

EXPERIENCE

With over 25 years of retail and business management experience, I offer a highly diverse and unique skill set to the UQPN. With a vast variety of new experiences and opportunities within my career, I have had the pleasure of owning and operating several businesses which include bridal stores, catering services, and cleaning business. My formal qualifications include a Graduate Certificate in Business Management, as well as several certificates and short courses along the way. I take pride in learning new things and am always eager for new experiences as well as networking opportunities. This is now my fifth year in my career in higher education at UQ, and my first as a student adviser – Global Experiences within student affairs. Previously, I worked within Student Services as the services support offices coordinator and in ASD in the examinations team.

I am an active member of the UQRAP network and passionate about healthy and sustainable living.

Outside of work, I love to spend time with my husband and family. We enjoy camping and travelling and endeavour to do so as often as we can manage. I am a very active individual who loves all sports, with my favourite place being the beach which I hope to I get the privilege to live at again someday.
