WHY UQPN?
Over the last 5 years, I have personally benefited immensely from the development opportunities provided by the UQPN. I was awarded the UQPN scholarship which allowed me to undertake additional training to expand my knowledge and capacity in my current role. The annual conferences have provided opportunities to build skills, relationships and to network, meeting colleagues face-to-face and hearing from some extraordinary and inspiring speakers. However, my overall favourite experience so far has been participating in the Mentor Me pilot program. Celebrating the successes of my mentoring partner and watching the growth in both of us is something I will cherish most about my time at UQ.
After enjoying so many positive experiences as a member, taking the opportunity to give back to the UQPN and contribute as a committee member seemed like the most natural progression for me. I’m looking forward to meeting many of you in my new role to hear the successes you have already enjoyed, and learning about the benefits you hope to realise from your participation in the UQPN!
EXPERIENCE
After four years as a stay-at-home mum to identical twins, I joined UQ in July 2016 as a Customer Service Officer with the UQ Vets Small Animal Hospital. Over the following years, I moved across to Governance & Risk and have gained experience in a number of portfolios. My professional experience is primarily in administration and customer service, with recent focus on process improvements. I have participated in numerous leadership and professional development opportunities, including the pilot Mentor Me program, through the UQPN, and look forward to passing on my knowledge and experience with others, while also learning from others within the Network and visiting guests.
Outside of UQ, I have served as a social club chairperson and event co-ordinator, as a fundraising co-ordinator for a multiple birth association and been involved in mentoring within various personal development programs. I have a keen interest in organisational psychology and change management and am excited to further expand my skills, capacity and network as a UQPN committee member.
